Tennis elbow: a prospective comparative clinical study comparing the outcome of conservative of management local infiltrations of leucocyte enriched platelet-rich plasma and glucocorticoid

Background: Lateral epicondylitis is a painful condition of the elbow, characterised by pain and tenderness with resisted wrist extension. This study was carried out to evaluate comparative efficacy local infiltration leucocyte enriched platelet rich plasma (L-PRP) methylprednisolone in patients lateral epicondylitis.Methods: Sixty adult patients, between ages 30 50 years, diagnosed more than 12 weeks, were enrolled prospective randomised study. Their medical history previous conservative treatment recorded; clinical evaluation tendinitis made visual analogue scale (VAS), disabilities arm, shoulder, hand (DASH) outcome scores, modified elbow performance index (MEPS), functional assessment patient-rated tennis (PRTEE), together laboratory investigations. The using computer-generated alphabets into two groups 30: group A received PRP, B corticosteroid.Results: Patients seen at 4, 8 weeks post-injection status. VAS, DASH, PRTEE scores significantly reduced, MEPS improved compared B.Conclusions: PRP leads superior healing long-term therapeutic advantages corticosteroids though it takes little longer have its effect.
